The Ministry of Health, Labour (MHLW) announced today, 30 Nov, 2018 (under MHLW Ordinance No. 408 of 2018) the partial amendment of specifications and standards for foods, food additives (Act. No. 370 of 1959) for
non-alcoholic based on Article 11, Paragraph 1 of the Food Sanitation Act (Act No. 233 of 1947).
Main Revisions:
The MHLW has newly established the analytical method for arsenic in non-alcoholic beverages other than mineral water in today's revision. In general, arsenic should be undetectable in non-alcoholic beverages other than mineral water. The newly established analytical method for arsenic is the silver diethyldithiocarbamate method (AgDDTC Method). Details of the test requirement are as per the source document.
