Japan | Partial Amendment Of Specifications And Standards For Foods, Food Additives etc. And Substan
The Ministry of Health, Labour (MHLW) announced today, Oct 18, 2018 (under MHLW Ordinance No. 366 of 2018) the partial amendment of specifications and standards for foods, food additives (Act. No. 370 of 1959) and the exempted substances designated by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare as those which are deemed as non-hazardous to human health etc pursuant to Article 11, paragraph 3 of the Food Sanitation Act (under MHLW Ordinance No. 367 of 2018).
Outline Of Revision
1) The Maximum Residue Level (MRLs) for Acephate, Amisulbrom, Cyazofamid, Dicyclanil, Semduramicin, Bicyclopyrone, Pyflubumide, Methamidophos have been revised based on the provisions of Article 11, paragraph 1 of the Food Sanitation Act (Act No. 233 of 1947).
2) Pursuant to the provisions stipulated under Article 3(11) of the Food Sanitation Act, Hydroxypropyl Distarch Phosphate has been added to the list of exempted substances designated under (under MHLW Ordinance No. 367 of 2018) amending "Substances designated by Paragraph 3, Article 11 of the Food Sanitation Act as having no potential to cause damage to human health (MHLW Ordinance No. 498 of 2015)"
Applicable Date:
This amendment shall apply from the day of notice. However, for the below food listed for each agricultural chemical etc., existing standards can still be used within 6 months from the announcement of this notification.
